Funny Stories Working In Child Care

We all know it’s important to take work seriously – a career in child care means a lot of responsibility. After all, you’re looking after young children and playing a role in shaping their future. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a laugh on the job too…

In fact, working in child care is full of laughs. Children say the darndest things, and when you spend your days caring for them you are bound to come across some hilarious stories.

Housemate to be

One of our fantastic Selmar trainers, Amanda, was flattered when a child in her care decided that they would move in with her.

“They said that when they grow up they will live with me and help pay the rent!”

Friend or foe?

Often we find ourselves saying some silly things to explain things to children. For example, telling children that a spider is more scared of them than they are of the spider. One of our students came across a child who didn’t accept this explanation, saying:

“If the spider is also scared of me, then why is she crawling on me?!”

Hmm, good point!

Sibling love

In some child care situations you will have siblings to care for. This can be a fun dynamic to witness, especially because we know that children like to tell it how it is.

One young girl didn’t hold back about her little brother:

“My baby brother is always stinky!”

A rewarding (and hilarious) career

When you work in child care, the stories just keep coming. If a career that is both rewarding and hilarious sounds right for you, then maybe it’s time to get qualified in early childhood.
