CEO and Founder
Chief Executive Officer Marcus Sellen is an experienced entrepreneur and, with over 10 years of leadership experience in education and training, specifically within the vocational education sector.
Marcus is the founder at SELMAR Institute of Education and has produced continual sales growth since its establishment. In the 2011/12 financial year SELMAR Institute of Education delivered quality training results for over 5,500 students.
Marcus is recognised for his wealth of experience and innovation in the education environment. His commitment and passion towards delivering exceptional training outcomes for his students comes from personal experience. As a student, Marcus hated sitting in classrooms and traditional, talk and chalk teachers. For Marcus, the best place to learn was in the workplace. By listeninbg to trainers who were also experts in their field, he found learning much more current and relevant. His education was practical, andhe could see immediate results. Marcus discovered the value of workplace instruction and the benefits of contextualised training.
Marcus has built his business by providing clearly defined commercial results to his clients and making sure that students could unlock their potential and continue to evolve their careers as a result of exceptional training and development.
While Marcus has a team of professionals delivering the learning and development solutions, he looks for opportunities to understand his clients’ businesses further. He is alkways willing to visit centres and understand the challenges and success of the industry more closely.

Chief Operating Officer
With 15 years experience as a finance executive and manager, Robyn Lyons brings a wealth of skill and talent to the role of Chief Operating Officer with SELMAR Institute of Education.
Robyn’s attention to detail and excellence became obvious 20 years ago when she was working in a management accounting role in MTV’s London office and achieved a perfect score during an Inland Revenue payroll compliance audit. Since then, she has worked in a variety of industries, managing operational budgets in excess of $1 million and assisted the privately-owned company World Expeditions grow into a global success story.
Robyn graduated with distinction from RMIT with a Bachelor of Business in Accounting in 2002, is a qualified CPA and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
More recently, Robyn has been juggling two positions simultaneously: Chief Financial Officer with internationally recognised climate change enterprise, Cool nrg and as inaugural Finance Manager with Schools Connect Australia. She is a committed and flexible manager, who adopts an inclusive and harmonious work ethic, leading by example. These skills will prove to be a great asset to SELMAR and we are incredibly pleased to have her on our team.
When she does find herself with some spare time, Robyn enjoys adventure travel, art collection and property development.

Head of Department – Administration and Operations
Julie comes to SELMAR with a broad range of experience including Registered Training Organisation management, compliance, project management, the coordination of Vocational Education and Training programs for school based and post-secondary students and private sector Learning and Development initiatives.
Julie is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the administration department, promoting business efficiency, process and service excellence and best practise information management and reporting as well as the management of the campus facilities. Julie is currently completing a Masters of Education – Leadership and Management and holds a Bachelor of Education and Training, an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and City and Guilds Cookery. Away from SELMAR Julie enjoys quilting, walking her dog Toby and tap dancing.

National Training Manager
Sarah Hanslow has a long history of operational excellence. Before joining SELMAR Institute of Education in 2007, Sarah worked with McDonald’s Australia for seven years, as Restaurant Manager across a number of their high volume stores. Like Marcus, her experience of vocational education cemented her commitment to providing quality
learning results while on the job.
During her time with McDonald’s, Sarah developed strong commercial skills and an ability to assess situations and implement appropriate measures. She is adept in operating schedules and meeting deadlines, and has considerable financial analysis and strategic planning skills. Core to her experience with McDonald’s was her involvement with labour management, mentoring and training. Sarah understands the strong relationship between meeting key performance indicators and individuals’ capacities and understanding of core processes—something that is very important and relevant to workplace learning.
Since joining SELMAR Institute of Education, Sarah’s wider management and educational leadership have developed. She is responsible for leading all operations, which includes nine direct reports and over 55 trainers. Sarah’s main focus is to ensure that clients areserviced above their expectations, and that the quality and consistency of our learning and development products are market-leading.
Sarah sits on the Senior Leadership Team at SELMAR, and welcomes clients to contact her with feedback and opportunities for continued improvement.

Jenn is an experienced Financial Controller and joined SELMAR after many years in the freight forwarding and rail industry. Her most recent role has been as CFO for Gemco Rail, a Perth–based organization which operates major overhaul and maintenance facilities around Australia. Prior to Gemco, Jenn was Finance Manager for Pacific National in Melbourne.
Jenn holds a degree in Business (Accounting) from Victoria University and is completing her final year of the CPA program.
